9/14/04 - I have been using Vonage for 11 days now. I made about 11 long distance calls. RESULTS: I RECOMMEND VONAGE and am making plans for permanent removal of the regular phone service. The sound quality from my end of the phone is actually better. Problems experienced so far: Occasionally someone on the other end of a call will say there was a momentary signal drop-off. When I tell them that I’m getting unlimited long distance they always start to consider how much they are paying for their long distance service and when I say to please let me know if it begins to be annoying, there is never another compaint. Another problem experienced so far is with the 911 service. I made a quick test call to 911. It went through a commercial 911 rather than residential 911 switchboard. I’m pretty sure it will work okay in the event of an emergency....they were able to determine my address. To the 911 operator it just seemed a bit unorthodox. Another problem is the servers at the Vonage website are slower than I would like. If someone leaves me a voicemail it takes 2 to 4 minutes for the voicemail to show up. 8/31/2004 I just signed up to begin using VONAGE as a VoIP internet broadband telephone service provider. I will be trying it out as soon as I get the equipment and will post results here. Supposedly, it will cost $29.95 per month for unlimited local and long distance calls. The equipment should arrive around 9/11/2004. I will begin posting results after having a chance to use it, AND after I see the monthly bill.

9/1/2004 - I’ve joined the VONAGE affiliate program. If I had known anyone who has VONAGE service, I would have signed up through them It would have saved me money, while also helping to pay my friends phone bill. They want me to add an advertisement banner to my website, but I will not do that until I try the service and recommend it.
